Lowering your Body Fat Percentage
The news is almost constantly filled with how we are a nation of obese people. A high body fat percentage can lead to numerous problems in our future lives such as heart disease and cancer. Therefore it is vital that we lower our body fat as soon as possible, thankfully it isn’t too difficult to do.
Despite of all the claims made on television and online there is no special formula to burning off excess body fat, all you need to do is burn more calories than you take in. Sounds pretty simple right? You will have to use a combination of a healthy diet as well as an exercise routine.
Every time you eat your body will store the nutrients and/or fat that it doesn’t need to operate. If you don’t burn it you store it! Therefore if you ingest a lot of fat and yet don’t exercise you will have a high body fat percentage.
The first thing is don’t get caught up in reducing your calorie intake. Focus on the types of foods you eat first. There is no special diet to do this, yet there are a few tips that may come in handy if you are attempting to do this:
1. Replace processed food with raw fruits and vegetables
2. Cut out sugary snacks such as chocolate or candy.
3. Drinks lots of water, lots of water!
4. Increase your cardio workouts.
Perhaps the biggest tip I can offer is to not skip breakfast. You body needs fuel to operate. Think of yourself as a furnace wood is the food you eat. You need logs in the furnace if you want it to be burning hot. Get your metabolism kick started by having a balanced breakfast that includes carbs protein and some raw fruit.
The next step is regular exercise. This will help you burn off those few extra calories. The exercises you do don’t need to be particularly strenuous; a little bit of walking every day may be enough at first. But every time try to push yourself harder then you did the day before. Don’t give up even if you don’t see results immediately Just make sure you commit to exercises over a period of months, this will help your heart and lungs work harder and stronger. Exercise combined with diet is what will help you burn body fat. Invest in whatever will make your more active. A Bike, new basketball, or take a class. Only you know what will work for you.
